However, installing the hotfix, corrected the problem and now Sonar recognizes all my drivers.Cakewalk has announced the next evolution of its popular SONAR series of DAW workstation software for the PC platform.
"Īlso should note that among the ASIO drivers that X1 does not recognize after installation of X1a patch are the Zoom R16/24 ASIO drivers. Whatever the reason, we suffered no dropouts or other ill behaviour during normal use. Maybe Cakewalk's system recommendations are playing it safe, or they expect users to pile on more plug-ins than we did. We could run up to 30 ProChannels at once, with the 76 compressor, tube saturation and all EQ bands active - not bad for a below-par setup! "Sonar X1 performed like a champ, even though our test machine (with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz CPU and 3GB RAM) was, on paper, slightly under spec for the job. Always get so much from your columns-I have been saved a lot of time in frustration by just searching your name anytime I have a computer recording question.Īnswering my own post, reports the following regarding the minimum system requirements and performance of X1:
But, I assume that's what the X1b release will be about.
The more I work with X1, the more I like it.even though there are definitely a few screws that need to be tightened down. Also lots of people are complaining about automation, but I'm a control surface kind guy.just punch if something's wrong, so editing doesn't get a lot of exercise and automation has been working fine for me. I've been using it on vocals and bass with no problems. For example, one guy said that V-Vocal was totally broken and didn't work at all. I just don't seem to be experiencing some of the problems I've seen mentioned in the Cakewalk forums. Played around with composite recording today, it's pretty similar to how it's done in 8.5 but faster because of the way the tools work. Lately, I've been using Sonar X1 quite a bit for testing out soft synths etc.
I don't use Dim Pro much (Rapture is my kinda thing!), but I understand that are some issues as Player has described and also as he mentioned, a fix is forthcoming. the sounds cut abruptly after two-three seconds. Go to bank 23 "Ethnic & World" and select Accordion 1, Accordion 2, Bamboo Flute, Pan Flute, Wood Flute etc. Questions for X1 users: on your Dimension Pro, do you have this bug? The four new VI instruments (drums, bass, electric piano, strings) are also very good. Also, the new SSL/1176-inspired compressor/EQ sound nice to my ears. It will take me a bit to get used to the new GUI (I spent half hour trying to find out where the Synth Rack now is - then finally found it in a folder in the browser menu at the top right, LOL)Įverything (knock on wood) seems stable so far. The main tracking area in the middle, the current/master busses on the left, mixer on the bottom, and browser on the right (of course all this being customizable). The first thing I thought was - wow, this looks like Logic now! (and Pro Tools a bit too) So, I just upgraded to X1 and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed (I skipped 8.5, I was still on 8) with all the new features
